Focus for this week: Systems (past focus)
Experiences in online communities
From I ask questions
For the Wikiversity course Facilitating Online 2009 I am preparing a list when I first had contact (list not finished yet; should I also list the less-activity-ones?; actually brings back some forgotten feelings):
- 1996 and before: using FidoNet (OMG, what kind of question - should I feel ashamed now ?)
- GeoCities
- 2003 Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing
- 2003 Free Internet Chess Server
- 2005 Wikimedia community:
- I was/will be/am part of the Wikiversity community. See for my experiences at my blog there: wikiversity:User:Erkan Yilmaz/observations.
- sister projects
- account on Wikimedia projects
- 2006 Google groups [1]
- 2006 testing community:
- [2]
- was moderator of (mainly Indian member) "testing" groups @ Yahoo! groups, Orkut, forum on my old website
- will add later more or search in google yourself
- 2007 IRC (Internet Relay Chat), start blogging
- Music I like - it is more like a oneway street, since the communication to the radio stations (and their crews) is limited (from time to time visiting chats)
but as per my time-feeling-thingy I would like to list it here. Don't shoot me yet for this
- 2009/2010 created accounts on some social/networking/services, not using all (at all)
