Focus for this week: Systems (past focus)
Help:Wikilog
From I ask questions
unsorted: questions, ideas, comments
- localize the extension to German
- from the trunk
- wish: some visual outputs, e.g.
- activity in the blog: over a certain interval: list the days things were posted
- users with amount of posts, comments
- blog posts with most replies (showing people's interest), with no replies (showing where to improve?)
- for a new user (who didn't install the extension): the "wikilog" tab is not seen immediately. I thought of adding a link to it manually with some explanation on the blog page (I think many extension installers will do afterwards some kind of edit like that - one cannot expect that every site visitor knows or sees the wikilog tab). Perhaps the Wikilog extension can come with some kind of template/boilerplate where this is automatically created on the blog page when creating first time ?
I will translate the blog posts into German again (see old blog post translate to think more (ttm)): I am wondering if the rss feed gets adapted, so I have a rss feed specifically for readers in that language ? I am not sure yet how I will do the implementation of the translation(s) technically ? (subpage e.g. /de, ...)
- when a new blog post is created: would be great if that blog post is automatically added in a category
- after some chat better to add my motivation here: I want to use some Semantics in this wiki (see e.g. Help:Semantic Mediawiki) and I hope that with some preexisting categories (the question here is how to get these? ...) that makes it easier later for the semantics extension)
- initial reaction: I was a little disappointed that it didn't look so fashionable like on the dev's blog. Well, no one told: it would look like that. Copy his css or invest time to make a new one ?
- Juliano noticed that wikilog.css was giving a 404 error. Didn't see that at all. Looks a little better now, thanks again. I used a different extension dir than proposed :-(
Done communicate to the user in manual to use the same dir or do a symbolic link
- I wonder which other of the installed extensions I broke like that ? I am naming the extension dirs with version number for reporting bugs with the version used :-( It is hard to know how an unknown application should behave. Best answer: of course always like I wish

- I am not sure if without the dev's help I would have spend more time on it
RSS feeds:
- each blog post itself has no RSS feed - question is this needed or wished ?
- is the RSS feed from blog settable ? e.g. with a tag ? then I could set my feedburner feed there
- advantage: you don't need 2 extensions to install (like the old combination on this wiki - a small changed Extension:DPLforum with Extension:WikiArticleFeeds)
- when updating a blog post: can this be shown ? perhaps something like: last edited ... ? make this as settable in a option like place ?
- information of others in the wiki that a new blog post is available, e.g. with help of Mediawiki:Sitenotice
- "no comments" is shown, though comments are available (perhaps because 1st comment not signed? todo: check more later)
